What is a screed in stretch ceilings?

In stretch ceilings, a tie refers to a special profile or fastening element used to secure and tension the ceiling fabric. The tie’s primary function is to evenly distribute the load on the fabric and ensure its tight adherence to the supporting structure, preventing sagging and deformation.

Ties can be used in different situations:

  • Between the profiles they create additional rigidity and help maintain the shape of the ceiling.
  • For curved structures,  when installing multi-level or curved ceilings, they help to accurately fix curves.
  • When repairing, half a ton of screed allows you to adjust the tension of the canvas without dismantling the entire ceiling.

The tie material is usually made of durable plastic or metal to withstand the constant tension of the web.
